This short story was a gripping introduction to the Unmapped Chronicles. With a feisty female lead character, we are taken on an adventure to save Crackledawn when the new Phoenix doesn’t rise.
Followed by her monkey companion Bartholomew, Smudge takes to the seas to overcome magic, creatures and weather to try and save her, and our, world. It was non-stop adventure which meant I devoured it in one sitting.
Beautifully written and littered with intriguing vocabulary and excitement, this book has left me very excited to read Rumble Star….which I am going to start right away!
