Sophie is an orphaned girl who we meet during her time at a boarding school, where she and her friends are waiting to find out where they will be going on their school holiday visit.
When a mysterious visitor arrives at their school, Sophie and her friends end up on a trip to Russia, where nothing is as they expected! Ending up at a palace, the girls need to overcome obstacles to find the truth.
I personally found this book quite predictable and could see the ending coming – but I know the children in my class would absolutely love this story. The setting creates beautiful images in the mind, as well as introducing you to a country and its history you may not have previously known much about!
