I was really excited when this book arrived; not only is it a reimagining of a Brother’s Grimm Tale (and one I hadn’t heard of yet, at that!) but it was accompanied by beautiful illustrations throughout.

The tale follows a weary soldier who attempts to solve a king’s riddle even though he is faced with death. The story was told in a way, which even without the intricate illustrations, would have created a vivid imagery for the reader.
This is a picture book which will definitely appeal to an older audience, due to its content, moral and style.
