Nicola Davies always writes stories with a deep message woven through, which children of young ages can access and understand. This story is no different.
Grandpa Joe hasn’t been the same since Granny Lou died. Usually, Ben would bake with Granny while Grandpa Joe found and photographed butterflies. But since she’s been gone, Grandpa won’t move from in front of the TV. So, Ben decides to use butterflies to help Grandpa Joe see beauty in life again, before it’s too late.
The ending brought a tear to my eye. It’s full of emotion and sure to inspire empathy from the children who read it.
