#WeRead2020

It’s no secret that I love to read.

It’s also not really a secret that I may have a slight addiction to buying books.

Bibliophile: a person who collects or has a great love of books.

Well, that’s me alright. But the problem is, I tend to buy more books than I can actually read. To give you an idea of the volume of books I have lying around, over the past 2 years I have read:

2018: 90 books

2019: 125 books

But there is already nearly this amount waiting for me in my TBR pile right now. And this isn’t even accounting for all the fantastic new books which will come out this year that I will inevitably end up buying.

So I wanted to set myself a challenge, particularly inspired by @MrBReading and #WeRead2020.

I’ll still have my Good Reads numerical challenge; I love having that to aim for. This year, I’ve decided to aim for 80 books. (Feel free to follow it and add me using the following link, if you’re interested! https://www.goodreads.com/user_challenges/19337805)

But I want to have other challenges too, to keep my reading varied and fresh.

1) First I am going to do my ’20 Books in 2020′ reading challenge with my class. It was created to promote variety in reading choices, as well as helping you discover books you might not otherwise find!

I can’t wait to see what books the children read (that I can add to my own TBR list!).

2) I’m not very good at picking which book to read next. So, to keep me reading from my TBR pile – and not always pick new books over ones lingering on my bookshelf! – I’m going to use a ‘To Be Read Jar’ to help me make that choice.

In this jar are (most!) of the books I want to read. When I finish my current one, I pick out the slip of paper with a title on…and that’s the next book! For someone as horrific as making decisions as I am, it’s a perfect solution.

3) Continue reviewing books! I am super lucky to get sent books from publishers to review. I absolutely love getting to read new books, being one of the first to really devour the words and enjoy the emotions that come with them.

But I want to get better at blogging about all the books I read! It’s easy to let this slack when other work takes over, but as @MrBReads points out, reading is also a social activity. It promotes discussion, which I love being a part of.

As a part of this discussion challenge I also want to:

• Leave more reviews on Good Reads & Amazon for authors and books I love. I’d like to do one a week.

• Follow more blogs that other book reviewers write! (So I will follow back everyone who follows my blog from this post!)

So there you have it: the three simple challenges I’m setting myself this year in order to enjoy the more social side of reading!

What will your #WeRead2020 challenges be?

Great post! I love the social side of reading! Twitter, Instagram, GoodReads and the OU UKLA RFP group I am part of have been brilliant for this! I used to blog about books and review quite a lot a few years ago but have fallen out of doing so recently. I’m going to challenge myself this year to reflect on my reading more through social media and blogging.
