Trailblazers is a series of books that focus on some exceptional individuals. Something that Simone Biles definitely is! I, probably like lots of others, discovered who Simone was when she competed in the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Her floor performances are amazing, so I’ve included one below, just in case you’ve never seen one before!

Simone had a difficult childhood and was eventually adopted by her grandparents. It was during a school trip that she discovered not only gymnastics, but her innate talent for it. From this moment to her recent achievements, this biographical recount of her life is inspirational and informative.

This is a really inspirational book which details Simone’s life from childhood until now. It includes not only her life but also facts and information about gymnastics. It was informational but also gave you a good sense of what Simone is like as a person. She not only aims to excel within her sport, but also to stand up for what she believes in.

Trailblazers, as a series, is excellent at showing children a range of people from different backgrounds and the steps they had to make to get to where they are. It is extremely rare to just end up where you want to be; it shows you need hard work and ambition.
