Mina Mistry (sort of) Investigates: The Case of the Disappearing Pets – Angie Lake

Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you haven’t read the first book in the series, then I highly recommend you do before getting yourself the second in the series! Although it can stand alone, it just makes the characters even more familiar and therefore, you get so much more involved in the second story. You can buy it here!

When there is an explosion at the local pet shop, followed by a spate of pet thefts, Mina knows there has to be something more sinister behind the crimes. With the help of her friends, she needs to solve the case and save the animals – it’s definitely a tricker case to crack than her first.

In another hilarious adventure with Mina, we see her trying to track down the animals which have been stolen and make sure they are returned safely to their worried owners. Whilst also tackling bigger issues such as animals being used to test make-up, it will also connect to readers on a more personal level, particularly if they own a pet!

Lake has written this in a way that keeps excitement going throughout, taking the reader on the journey with Mina and Holly. You will want to keep turning the pages to find out what happened next.

The layout of the book, just as the first, makes it really accessible to readers who are growing in confidence. With log-book extracts and illustrations littered through the text, and chapters which aren’t too long, it will allow children to read without support if they choose to. However, it is also a brilliant adventure to share with their family, too.

If you like the sound of this book, you can buy it here!
