Unlike everyone else, Ray didn’t have a weather magic yet. Despite this, she does have Nim, her cloud cat, and her two best friends – Snowden Everfreeze and Droplett Dewbells who help make her life fun and exciting.
When she goes to Earth to find some treasure left behind, something extraordinary happens. Ray Grey becomes…Rainbow Grey. With secret treasures, hideouts and villains in disguise, Rainbow has a lot to overcome in order to find out how she needs to use her magic. Can she help the world avoid a war, or will she just make it worse?

This is a beautifully presented proof – not only is the cover illustration really fantastic but the rainbow sprayed edges really make you want to open it up and read the pages within.
This is a book packed full of action and excitement from the first page all the way through to the last. Not only is there brilliant writing which draws the reader into this well-crafted world, but it is littered with lovely illustrations which really help bring the story to life. There are twists and turns through the plots which
Rainbow Grey is a fun character – she is feisty but has a more sensitive side that she shows to her friends and family. I can see lots of children wanting to dress up as her for World Book Day! Her rainbow hair is fantastic. Alongside her, though, the other characters all have their own clear identity which makes for a really interesting dynamic as events unfold! There is another lovely character included too…Nim the Cloud Cat!

Today, I have an exciting guest post from Laura where we look at Nim’s favourite cats from TV and film. I wonder if your favourite moggy has made the list?
Nim’s favourite cats from film and television
Salem (from Sabrina the Teenage Witch)
I’ll be focusing on the version of Salem from the brilliant 90’s TV series of Sabrina the Teenage Witch starring Melissa Joan Hart. In this sitcom, Salem is such a funny character. He’s rather sarcastic and bit nosey too!
Jiji (from Kiki’s Delivery Service)
Jiji not only looks cute, he is a great cat companion for young Kiki who is training to be a witch. Jiji is funny, charming and loyal. Jiji would most likely give Nim some advice then get on with his own thing.
Puss in Boots (from Shrek)
I adore the Shrek movies, and their take on classic fairytale characters. Puss in Boots is no exception. This rendition of the boot wearing feline is so brilliant and funny. Not to mention those HUGE cute eyes! I love how they portray Puss almost like this Legend of Zorro character. He is charming, brave and cunning!
Tabby (from ‘The Worst Witch’ by Jill Murphy)
I love that Tabby is different to all the other cats at Cackle’s Academy, just like Mildred Hubble. He doesn’t fit the mould and is often getting Mildred into trouble – not to mention the fact he HATES flying. But his charming differences makes him stand out from the rest, and a perfectly loveable loyal companion. I think Tabby would make good friends with Nim and I think Ray would fall in love with Tabby too!
The kittens from The Aristocats
It’s hard to pick a favourite from the cast of the Aristocats! I always adored the three kittens, but I think my favourite as a kid was Toulouse. I loved how he attempted to be scary with his cute little hiss – “MEOW ffft ffft ffft”…. Hehe! And I actually named my little sister after Marie! So, she was another firm favourite of mine. I also adored their little piano song ‘Scales and Arpeggios’ – now I’ll be singing that all day!
