Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a gorgeous book which pairs short stories and poems with classic and contemporary artwork. There are a range of different topics covered within this book, and although aimed towards ‘bedtime’ – which it would work beautifully for – it is also perfect for classroom learning.

I always think there’s such an interesting link between literature and artwork beyond the illustrations created for a text; it is an opportunity for us to expose children to art which they may not otherwise come across either at home or in the classroom. I loved exploring the pages finding artwork I hadn’t seen before, or seeing some links I’d never considered before.

The different sections of the book allow you to choose your topic with ease and find the perfect poem – from ‘creepy crawlies’ to ‘midnight and magic’ (with a handy contents page to help you find exactly what you need!). All with a night or bedtime focus, they show different aspects of sleep and dreaming that will invoke imagination whilst still being informative.

I would not only use this book within my classroom, but would love to incorporate it into my teaching in other ways. I am already looking for further artwork I can link to my next topic!
